I've already written about this piece once, here. But then I spent some time mulling over what I wanted to create behind the glass, finally settling on a collection of handwritten memories from a years-long journey that took me to Georgia, then North Carolina, and eventually back to Utah. If you look closely you'll see that some of these memories are written at an angle in light, un-blurred ink. Others are written in an ink I chose specifically for its ability to blur into the fibers when I applied water over the top. Included in the handwritten notes are meals I made, places I spent time, and reflections on the homes I lived in. It was a magnificent and sometimes painful road, and incorporating it into this artwork has been a beautiful experience. I'm thankful for all the people I met during that time, and the experiences that helped me grow. If any of you are reading this, thank you!
Incorporating memories into this piece has turned the stained glass into a sort of window onto that time of my life, albeit one that hides or distorts as much as it reveals. This idea of turning my glass artwork into a 'window on life' is resonating with me, and I hope to keep exploring it in months to come.
